La Laguna, San Carlos

La Laguna is a beautiful place where you can camp, fish, climb the Cerro Picacho or you can just walk around the lake. It's around 25 kilometers from the Pan-American Highway.

We packed our lunch and started our jouney. Once we got off the highway, we were so excited going through small villages.  We were only a few minutes away from the main road that takes you to La Laguna, we noticed low fuel warning light. Our chances to continue and return to the nearest gas station were slim. So we asked few people in the village, but we were told over and over again to go back to Coronado. Unfortunately, that's what we had to do. There is a stone road on the right to reach La laguna.

Entrance ticket was $1.00 per person. If you want to camp, the cost per night depends on the size of the tent.

La Laguna is about 850 meters above sea level, and this mysterious place has unknown origin. But the legend says that many years ago, foreigners came to the La laguna to find out the depth, fauna and flowers, but when they dived in La Laguna, one of them found a cave and hidden treasure. He took a gold glass and a plate and brought it up to the surface. He showed to his partner what he had found. Then he wanted to explore for more, but he never returned and died in the depths of La Laguna.

We walked around La Laguna, and it was an amazing   experience. Everybody we met there were so friendly,   and it was a serene and relaxig place where the fresh   breeze invites you to stay more!!

There is a restaurant in which they sell fish caught from La Laguna, accompanied with patacone or rice at different prices and sizes. They also sell soft drinks and coffee.

On our way back, we stopped and enjoyed the beautiful   views of the small villages in the mountains.

Overall it was a wonderful and exciting day!!
