Embera Indian Village Tour
We booked our Embera Indian Village Tour from Expedia. We were staying at RIU Plaza Hotel in Panama City, and the tour operator picked us up at 8am from the hotel. We drove along the Inter American Highway, and it took approximately 45 minutes to reach the Corotu port of the edge of the Chagres river.
The short traditional canoe trip took us to the Embera village, and it was a pleasant ride. Members of the Embera Indian village welcomed us with music to start the tour. After that we had a quick look at the market and took another canoe ride to the waterfall.
On our way back from the water fall to the village, we came across a canoe that ran out of gasoline. Some gasoline was taken from our canoe. But after that they even overtook us.

Arriving back at the village, we took a short walk to reach the Butterfly farm. I gave some chocolates to the village small children, and they were so happy.

I saw an Embera woman cooking food in front of her house, and I asked her permission to take pictures. She was cooking chicken and Tameles a traditional food of Panama. This was for her family.
When we returned back to the village, we had a fruit platter prepared by the Embera women for our group that our guide bought on our way to the village. While we were listening to their history and how they make woven baskets, we also ate delicious lunch of fried fish, plantains with a slice of lime in a Patacone.

At the end of the tour, we watched the Embera men and women do the traditional dance. It was a perfect way to end our tour!!
